  • Introducing: Trace Thurman

    Trace 3

Hello everyone! My name is Lloyd Dennis Thurman III, but you can call me Trace since that’s what I’ve gone by since I was born in West Monroe, Louisiana. I grew up outside of Houston, Texas in the beautiful city of Sugar Land. I ended up moving to Austin to attend college at the University of Texas to double major in Public Relations and Radio/Television/Film.

After interning at a PR Firm during my last semester, I decided to take a chance and intern at an Event Planning Company after I graduated. I immediately fell in love and wanted to continue working in the event industry. After my internship ended I moved over to event rentals, working for Houston-based company Aztec Events and Tents. I learned a lot in my time at Aztec and am thrilled to bring all of my knowledge and experience with me to the team at Premiere Events.

I hope to use my experience in public relations and events industry every day at Premiere and to making a contribution to its continued growth and expansion. I am excited to establish roots with Premiere Events and become a permanent member in their thriving family. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and I can’t imagine being anywhere else!

At Premiere Events, I will be helping any clients with their event rental orders and help them pick items that will create the most exquisite events imaginable. I believe it is my calling to help alleviate any stress that is created during the rental process and to help ensure that the rental aspect of the event plan moves along as smoothly as possible. Even if rentals are merely one cog in the machine of planning an event. I look forward to working with each and every one of you to provide the best rental experience imaginable!

When I’m not at work you can usually find me at the Alamo Drafthouse watching any kind of movie (though horror films and romantic comedies are my preference) or watching one of the hundreds of Blu-Rays in my movie collection. Alternately, you can find me at the nearest karaoke bar singing Disney villain songs or peppy Broadway show tunes!

Thanks for reading and have a Romy and Michele day!

  • Premiere Events Open House on June 17, 2014

We renovated our North store showroom, so naturally we threw a party to celebrate the makeover!

    foodtrucks

The Seedling Truck and The Peached Tortilla had fantastic samples from their summer menus, and The Wedding Butler mixed a delightful lemon drop martini for guests to enjoy! Frost 321 kept us entertained and cool with their frozen concoctions made from liquid nitrogen. We also had Cornucopia Popcorn Creations available for snacking (and the “Salted Toffee” flavor was delicious!!!).

Guests were invited to explore our newly designed showroom and see our latest décor, some of which is pictured below. Our creative designer, Kenneth Sharples, did a remarkable job turning his vision into a reality.  He created a café where planners can meet with clients to talk about their event needs while sharing a cup of coffee or a fresh juice. He also decked out a room with our white lounge furniture and royal blue draping.

Two of the biggest changes to our North Store location are the new wood floors in the linen room, and the warehouse which is now adjacent to our showroom (rather than 3 doors down)! The North Store looks fabulous, but don’t just take our word for it…come check it out! We’d love to see you!

  • The Final Fling Before The Ring

Planning a bachelorette party? Don’t know where to start? Stop by Premiere Events for your party rental needs and an event consultant will gladly help you envision the perfect party.

If painting the town red is not your bride’s style, opt for a fun girl’s night filled with delicious cocktails and pampering! Rent a couple chick flicks, give each other refreshing facials, and spoil the bride with a fresh mani-pedi. You could also have a cupcake and cocktail table with several scrumptious treats.

    Google Images

Here is a fun idea for a unique cocktail! Rent our Cotton Candy Machine to create fresh pink cotton candy, and place it in our 16.5 oz Excalibur Iced Tea Glass. Then, lightly pour champagne over the cotton candy to make this special cocktail!

    Google Images

Another fun idea for a classy bachelorette party would be to have a bellini-mimosa bar.

    Google Images

Use our 8 foot Banquet Table to display the bellini-mimosa bar, then rent our Carafes and fill them with vibrant Peach and Cranberry juices. Serve the fresh fruit in our Porcelain Serving Dishes or rent our 3 Tier Square Serving Trays. We also have tons of champagne glasses available for rent, as well as classy table top wine stands to keep the champagne chilled to perfection. Or another creative alternative would be to use our martini glasses to serve fruit in a trendy manner.

    Google Images

Host a classy brunch with the bride or a garden tea party as an alternative to a wild bachelorette party downtown.

    Google Images

We suggest renting our wooden “Harvest” table or the vineyard “Sourav” table, paired with benches or Fruitwood Chavari Chairs. Premiere’s new “Rose Splendor” Table Runner is a perfect way to add a splash of color to the table.

    Premiere Events

For china, we suggest White Wicker cups and saucers atop our Floral Design Salad Plates to create an ambiance of floral charm. Our “Vanessa Platinum” cups and saucers offer a more elegant allure.

For a more casual look, we offer Mason Jars that can be used for drinks or as decorations on a table. Below is a photo of our mason jars, as well as a photo used for inspiration to make the look come to life:

  • Gala on the Gridiron

    Image

Premiere Events and Texas State Team Up for Gala on the Gridiron!

Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, almost 700 Texas State boosters, supporters and fans attended the University’s first ever Bobcat Bonanza held on Jim Wacker field. Previous Bobcat Bonanzas had been held within the stadium confines, but never on the football field. Premiere Events, the official tent provider for Texas State Athletics, teamed with the University’s Athletic Department to help develop a tenting and flooring plan that would provide Bobcat guests with this unique dining experience.

The Texas State Bobcat Club website provides the following facts and figures highlighting the success of this remarkable event. “A combination of ticket sales, sponsorships, golf tournament proceeds, silent and live auction bids, and donations propelled the total amount raised during the day [May 3rd, 2014] to $406,600, exceeding the previous year’s record of $171,000 by more than $235,000. The 705 tickets sold also more than doubled the number of attendees from last year’s event.

“It was a great day for Texas State Athletics,” said Matt Peters, Assistant Athletic Director of Development.  “The growth of this event has been remarkable,” said Dr. Larry Teis, Director of Athletics. “Just five years ago, Bobcat Bonanza brought in a total of $28,000. Now we’re raising more than $400,000 . . . I’m very grateful for everyone’s support.” Due to the positive response and overall success of the event, the Bobcat Club has plans to continue hosting Bobcat Bonanza on the football field in future years. “We’re already making plans for the second Gala on the Gridiron next spring,” said Peters.

Delores Crum, Premiere’s President and Rick Crum, Vice President of Operations, are already working with Peters and other members of Texas State’s Athletic Staff on next year’s Gridiron Gala. “Producing an event of this magnitude is a testament to Premiere Events’ tenting expertise. We’ve tented events for as few as fifty and as many as 1,000 guests. Our tenting tem has a wealth of experience and our company has built an impressive tent inventory in recent years.”

We look forward to meeting YOUR future tenting needs!

  • Baby Fever

Hosting a baby shower or gender reveal party? First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!

Stop by Premiere Events for your rental needs!

    Image

For linens, we suggest our pink petals overlay paired with aqua economy or our turquoise eden paired with light pink economy.

Our Grahamsville Glass Beverage Dispenser would be the perfect way to serve drinks.

    Image

A popular trend at baby showers is to reveal the gender of the child through colored cupcake filling. We suggest using our 5 tier white cupcake tree to display your cupcakes! If you plan to have a cake, our round glass pie stands are a wonderful way to showcase your sweet treats.

    Image

We also recommend renting our glass centerpieces and filling them with colorful cookies or festive candy!

    Image

To personalize the baby shower, adorn the dessert table with maternity photos or your baby’s sonogram with our table card holders shown below.

    Image

Here’s another fun idea, rent some of our pipe and drape to make a cute backdrop for the dessert table. Or you could utilize the drapes for a DIY photography background and add fun props for your guests to take silly pictures!

    Image

Again, congratulations on the newest addition to your family! What a sweet blessing! Premiere Events will help you create an adorable baby shower to celebrate the new love of your life!

  • Why an event rental professional could be your best friend – A Guest Post by Diane Lyerly

The idea from this blog came from an email interchange with another Premiere event consultant.  Alison Herschap said “Teamwork is Dreamwork” and that set my mind to how rental professionals really do want to team with their event holders, whether they are other professionals such as planners, caterers, etc. or individual event holders planning a wedding, shower or any type of special occasion.

So what’s in it for the event holder?  As it turns out, a good working relationship with an event rental professional can be one of the best relationships you can make.  Here’s why.

First of all, rental professionals deal with all aspects of the event industry.  We rent to caterers, florists, photographers, venue owners, videographers, bakers & other professionals in the event world.  We know the reliable ones.  We know their style, their price range & quite often their personalities.  When we recommend a vendor, it is someone who is tried & true.  It is someone who is well respected in the industry as a whole.

When you work as a team with a Premiere event consultant, we share our knowledge of upcoming product discounts & of new items that we have just added to our inventory.  (For instance, we have just added some glitzy sequined runners & some lush “Downton Abbey” style runners in several colors.)

For the most part we have a plethora of information about each of the thousands of products in our inventory.  If there is a question we don’t know, we find the answer & get back to you on that.  We can offer suggestions on items that might work for your particular event & we can also steer you away from items that aren’t as well suited for your event needs.

Because we have so many collective years of experience in creating special events, we can recommend products to create your special look.  We have a wealth of decorative ideas & can recommend products from our inventory, from local sources or from online providers.  When you visit one of our showrooms, you’ll be inspired by the table tops we have on display and delighted by your many choices.

And last, but not least, if a mistake is made, on our part or on yours, we will do our very best to take care of it, even if it is the very last minute.  We have helped save many an event where there was no linen for the cake table or no flutes for the champagne toast.

So you see, teamwork really is dreamwork.  We are happy to work with you to make sure your special event really is SPECIAL!

  • Introducing our newest event consultant: Krista Schnur

    Image

Howdy! I was raised on the East Coast but moved to Texas as fast as I could! I absolutely love Austin and can’t imagine living anywhere else. You can usually find me at a live concert with friends or walking the trails at St. Edward’s park with my loveable Aussie pup. I just recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in marketing and a minor in communications. With a background in event planning and experience as an event photographer, joining the Premiere team only seemed natural!

Since weddings account for roughly 80% of the retail rental market, I decided to do some research on the latest wedding trends of 2014 to share with you! One thing I noticed was that wedding themes are very popular this year! Vintage, Rustic Chic, Sparkle Accents, and Floral Garden styles are among the top wedding themes.

Our harvest table, wood chargers, and light pink economy table runners can help you achieve the Floral Garden theme. Add wicker baskets with fragrant flowers to complete the look.ImageImage

If a Rustic Chic Wedding is more your style, Premiere offers these amazing wine barrel decorations that double as cocktail tables! Add a touch of feminine elegance with our ivory lace drapes and a bouquet.

Check out our new Glitz sequin table runners! They’re perfect for any Sparkle Accent themed event.
ImagePatterns are becoming more prevalent at receptions and crystal or silver centerpieces are a MUST! We are seeing everything from Chevron to Damask Rose to Nova Swirls. We have all of these patterns that can be viewed under the Linens tab on our website.

Spring has arrived and pink has made its way down the aisle in nude, blush, peach, coral, and rose gold. Popular accent colors are dusty blue, grayed jade, yellow and gold. top-10-wedding-color-trends-ideas-for-spring-2014 (1)

Call us at Premiere Events for all your rental needs and an event consultant will gladly assist you.

It is incredibly rewarding to develop a vision into a spectacular celebration and I look forward to helping you turn your dream wedding into a reality!
